Imbued with optimism and whimsy, Spring Fling displays a brimming collection of characters that embody the notion of ‘spring’ as an action, season, and attitude: leaping frogs and rabbits, butterflies, and a carefree animated figure resembling the fun-loving nature of Michael Byers’ young daughters. As his very first foray into printmaking, the collaborative creation of this work with Smokestack’s Master Printmaker, Laine Groeneweg, presented Byers with opportunity to broaden his illustrative style through a whole new technical and creative process.
