Spencer Ashley

Spencer Ashley is a Toronto based illustrator whose work takes elements of contemporary living as the basis for satirical and playful imagery. Ashley’s creation of colourful, visually spirited works in their digital practice demonstrate a dynamic understanding of layering shape and composition; insight that Ashley credits to their first experience working with screen printing during an internship at Smokestack studio in 2019.

Ashley’s illustrative practice has focused on editorial and advertising projects including work with The New York Times, VICE, The University of Toronto, Sheridan College, Buzzfeed, NOW Toronto, Cottage Life, The Walrus and The Globe & Mail among others.
