Chris Myhr - Vessels: Undertone (#1)

Interdisciplinary artist, Chris Myhr, dedicates his artistic practice to the exploration of materiality and embodied experiences. Working with sound, the moving image, photography, electronics, and media installation, he investigates the interchanges between art, ecology, and science through deeply considered observation of, and in, the environment.

Chris Myhr holds an undergraduate degree from Simon Fraser University (BC) a BFA from the University of Lethbridge (AB) and an MFA from NSCAD University (NS). His work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions, festivals, and performances in Canada and internationally in the United States, Mexico, South Korea, Finland, Bulgaria, Switzerland and Germany. Chris has been awarded several grants from the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts and is the recipient of numerous awards including The Prefix Prize of the Prefix Institute of Contemporary Art, Toronto (2021) and the Juror’s Selection Award from the New York Centre for the Arts, New York (2020) among others.

In addition to his professional artistic practice, Chris is a professor in the Department of Communication Studies & Media Arts at McMaster University, Hamilton.
