Chris Nicholls

Chris Nicholls is well known for his photographic practice in fashion & beauty photography. In contrast, creation of his Rock / Cut project expanded his passion to seek and transpose experiences of beauty from the natural environment. A study of the highway rock cuts of Northern Ontario, these large format images capture the texture, graphic quality and sheer imposing mass of some of the oldest elements on earth.

Chris Nicholls is a three-time winner of ‘Photographer of the Year’ at the P&G Fashion and Beauty Awards and a recipient of the CAFA Image Maker of the Year Award. Exhibition of Nicholls’ Rock / Cut project at Smokestack is the first presentation of his photographic work in a fine-art gallery context.
