Kristin Sjaarda’s Smokestack Special Edition, “Verdure”, is the feature work of her 2022 solo-exhibition at Smokestack Gallery, “Sottobosco [The Forest Floor]”. Influenced by the style of still life works from the 17th century Dutch Golden Age, Kristin adapts the visual/symbolic language of these historic paintings to create photographic prints that comment on current environmental concerns. Within her practice, “Verdure” is the first work that Smokestack digital printmaker, Jonathan Groeneweg, and Kristin have collaborative created with use of one of the most technically superior image-making tools to-date: the 150MP PhaseOne IQ4.
