David Trautrimas – Aphasia

  • David Trautrimas
  • Cyanotype triptych
  • Edition of 3
  • 42" x 32" [each panel]
  • 2024

Multidisciplinary artist, David Trautrimas, explores human experience through contemporary cultural phenomena and those objects and spaces by which daily life is lived. Recently created during his 2024 Smokestack Analog Printmaking Residency, Aphasia reflects an expansion of Trautrimas’ artistic investigations in both content and medium. Throughout the residency, Trautrimas and printmaking collaborator, Laine Groeneweg, dedicated themselves to experimentation with cyanotype to great effect (a new medium for both). The largest piece created in this cyanotype series, Aphasia demonstrates the successful results of their experimentation through the production process while also presenting a visual metaphor for an experience of meditation and relief.
