Multidisciplinary artist, Mia Sandhu, explores her fascination with cultural hybridity, gender and sexuality alongside familial and personal narratives. Her experience as a 2023 Smokestack Analog Printmaking Residency participant foregrounded her rediscovery of silkscreen printing through collaborative work with Smokestack’s analog printmaker, Laine Groeneweg. An original intention to create patterned wallpaper at the outset of her residency ultimately developed into an opportunity to expand her imagery investigations with figures, orbs and drapery into print.
