Heart on One’s Sleeve by artists Nathan Eugene Carson and Laine Groeneweg (also Smokestack’s analog printmaker) was created on the occasion of a singular evening event at Smokestack Gallery in July 2024. Building a multi-media experience for event attendees, Carson and Groeneweg coordinated an evening that integrated music, dance, and artwork. This large-scale work was one of a series collaboratively produced to adorn the surrounding event space. Silkscreen-coloured newsprint offcuts cut into hands, feet, and other body parts were collaged onto cardboard to create a dynamic composition of abstracted figures in motion.
