Up Close and Personal is Mallard’s latest work and largest silkscreen print created to-date. With collaborative support from Smokestack’s analog printmaker, Laine Groeneweg, Mallard visualizes the experience of encountering his larger-than-life sized [physically and psychologically] character in person.
For those who may not be familiar with his persona, the work presents an abstracted composition of bright colour and bold, geometric design. For those who are, one might recognize the unmistakably green colouration; a polygon of brilliant blue eyes; an improbably dexterous tongue; a feeling of being absorbed and overwhelmed by atypical joy.
