Tyler Bright Hilton
I liked you right away
March 5
– July 10, 2020
Tyler Bright Hilton’s prints and drawings centre around a fictionalized protagonist: Minmei Madelynne Pryor. She is the one constant within thematic interests that shift with each new project. Consistent throughout his work is an attempt to create morally complex imagery that balances unpredictable and conflicting moods; at once earnest and ironic, aesthetic and grotesque, with the goal of pictures that frustrate intellectual readings while rewarding emotional responses. I liked you right away features prints and drawings from Hilton’s second project in the series, Minmei Madelynne Pryor on the Trail of a Liar.
Tyler Bright Hilton received an MFA from the Chelsea College of Fine Arts in 2008, London, UK. Recent exhibitions include For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you at The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Montreal (2019), Minmei Madelynne Pryor on the Trail of a Liar at C.G. Boerner, New York (2019), Twin Paradox at Macaulay & Co. Fine Art, Vancouver (2019), A Portrait Show at VIVIANEART, Calgary (2019), HAIR at Macaulay & Co.
