Laine Groeneweg

Laine Groeneweg is a Hamilton-based artist, collaborator, and educator. Prioritizing ongoing experimentation in the analog print discipline, Laine incorporates a wide variety of print techniques in works that investigate an equally wide range of subjects from mythical creatures to the forms of everyday objects. His print works have been presented in solo and group exhibitions across Canada and internationally in the United States, Italy, Spain, India, Mexico, Belgium, Taiwan, and Russia.

Since completion of his professional training as a printmaker at Il Bisonte Foundation in Florence, Italy, Laine has also worked extensively as a technician, teacher, and collaborative printer at some of Canada’s most renowned printmaking studios including Open Studio in Toronto and Centre[3] in Hamilton. In 2013, he founded the Smokestack Studio in The Cotton Factory that has since grown to encompass multi-faceted specializations in both analog and digital media.
