Britta Benno
Estonian artist, Britta Benno, has cultivated a research-based practice with a focused interest in drawing and printmaking. Past projects have stepped into the world science fiction; her works expressing imaginings of post-apocalyptic landscapes and dystopian environments.
Most recently, Britta was a participant in the 2021 Estonian Artist Exchange Residency at The Cotton Factory in Hamilton. During her time in Hamilton in residence, she produced a multi-coloured limited-edition print in the Smokestack Analog studio. The work’s destined incorporation in presentations in both Canada and Estonia further broaden the intention of artistic exchange initiated by international residency program.
Britta Benno holds an MA of Graphic Arts and is a PhD candidate in the Doctoral school of Art and Design from the Estonian Academy of Arts. Her work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Europe including presentations in Estonia, Iceland, Austria, Hungary, Italy, and further abroad in Australia. In addition to her independent artistic practice, Britta has been an organizing member of several printmaking studios and workshops in Estonia that have fore fronted the growth of printmaking communities and interest in the discipline at large in her home country.
