Becky Comber
Becky Comber’s photo-based practice is informed by her deep-rooted connection with the natural environment. Her investigative relationship with the wilderness around her home and studio in Grey County, ON, continues to be an integral source of inspiration and subject of her work.
To create her hand-cut, original photographic works, Becky invokes a laborious process of physically separating the intricate foreground images of her botanical subject matter from the background. Becky has further translated her artistic methodologies into the digital realm through her creation of limited-edition photographic prints which are similarly informed by her detailed investigations of the seasonal cycles.
Becky Comber holds a BFA in Photography from Ryerson University, ON. Her work has been the subject of solo and group exhibitions across Canada and internationally in the United States and Germany and may be found in the permanent collections of private, corporate and provincial institutions.
